W dniach 14 lutego-5 marca 2010 roku, w ciągu trwających trzy tygodnie obrad, dwunastu profesjonalistów z dziedziny fotografii zobaczyło ponad 42 tysiące zdjęć. Konkurs Pictures of the Year International to część programu The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) w Missouri School of Journalism.

W tym roku Paul Hansen dostał nagrodę w kategorii "Newspaper Photographer of the Year", a Tomas van Houtryve zdobył wyróżnienie w kategorii "Freelance/Agency Photographer of the Year". Van Houtryve pokazał m.in. znakomite cykle z Mołdawii, w których opowiada o najbiedniejszym europejskim kraju.

W kategorii "World Understanding Award" zwycieża Thomas Lekfeldt z historią o dziecku walczącym z rakiem. Nagroda "Global Vision Award" trafiła do Briana L. Franka, który zdokumentował przemiany środowiska naturalnego wokół rzeki Colorado.
